Professional Designations
BOMA Georgia partners with BOMI to offer a variety of professional designations for property managers, facility managers, and building engineers. Throughout the commercial real estate industry, a BOMI designation is recognized as a mark of distinction; an emblem of achievement backed by BOMI’s more than 50 years of excellence in developing and offering educational programs.

The Real Property Administrator (RPAᆴ) designation program serves the educational needs of both third-party property managers and corporate property managers. Courses leading to an RPA cover every aspect of property management, from the basics of building design, operation and maintenance, to the specialized areas of commercial property law and risk management, marketing and asset management. Through this program, property managers learn to maximize the net income of any property, be it one building or an entire portfolio.
To earn the RPA designation, you must complete seven mandatory courses, plus one elective course. Students do not have to take the courses in any specific order. However, if you are new to the curriculum, you may consider beginning with subject matter you are already familiar with and save new material for later study. The Facilities Management Administrator (FMA®) designation program benefits new and experienced facilities professionals alike. The PPA™ demonstrates your commitment to not only the industry, but your client’s specific, individual needs. You’ll gain a full understanding of the diverse aspects of property management involved in analyzing a building in its entirety. The PPA™ program positions you for long-term success when working with your property professionals.
In the PPA™ program, you’ll learn how property managers enhance the value of the asset through proper and strategic decision-making. Components of this program include design, operation, and maintenance of an office building. You will become fully versed in budgeting and accounting for commercial real estate, risk management, and best practices in bidding. This program also covers reviewing and selecting contract providers, marketing and leasing the building, and operating the asset from an owner’s perspective through a comprehensive asset management component.

Learning about the day-in-the-life of a facilities manager, you’ll build an understanding of productive work environments, as well as how facility managers handle tenant issues such as daily operations, maintenance, comfort, and safety.
In the FPA™ program, you’ll learn how facility managers best support tenants and staff, while meeting the organization’s overall objectives. The program covers everything from planning and project management to environmental health and worker safety. In addition, you’ll gain the understanding of what information facility managers need to minimize maintenance costs and properly manage other timely issues.

It is designed for PM 101 graduates and any property or facility manager who is interested in expanding their knowledge of the industry and taking their career to the next level. The Building Engineering 101 certificate program is a six-day course taught over six weeks and combines classroom-style learning, interaction with industry professionals and behind-the-scenes tours of metro-Atlanta buildings.

Building Engineering 201 takes a deeper dive into building operations and maintenance education and is ideal for graduates of BOMA Georgia's Building Engineering 101® course–now Foundations of Building Engineering. This course is also suited for building engineers with a more advanced knowledge of the building engineering field. The six-day course is taught over six weeks.

The Commercial HVAC Certificate Program is a unique partnership between BOMA Georgia and Chattahoochee Technical College. The program offers building engineers a five-semester HVAC program. Semester courses are topic-specific and advance their knowledge of commercial heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. The classes may be taken in conjunction with SMA classes or any other seminars. The Commercial HVAC Certificate Program does not provide credit toward a BOMI designation.

The CRE Collaborative Service Certificate program is a four-day, five module program designed for new and tenured commercial real estate product and service providers. Instruction in the program familiarizes professionals in the service and products sector with the organization and practices of property management professionals. Topics include an introduction to the commercial real estate industry; finance, accounting, budgeting, and bids; building systems and infrastructure; programs and product alignment for CRE; and doing business in the commercial real estate industry.
Taught by tenured instructors serving in the commercial real estate industry, program coursework is reinforced through exercises, discussions, tours, and experiential learning. Students must complete all five modules to earn their certificate.

This leadership journey features a variety of instruction styles, including experiential learning, both in teams and as an individual; executive coaching sessions; extracurricular coursework; and a program project presented by each participant at the conclusion of the program.
